NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 20, 2000
A classic choral composition with a decidedly medieval feel is making a 21st-century debut today, as Net4Music (Nasdaq: NMUS) and German publisher Schott Musik International announce the Internet-only release of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana for piano.
The sheet music for the popular piece, heard frequently in film and television, will be available for purchase and download at www.net4music.com in a special arrangement for piano students.
The announcement is the first Internet-only release to come out of Net4Music's landmark digital distribution deal with Schott, one of the largest classical music publishers in the world. Over 200 years old, the German company was the original publisher of many works by Beethoven, Wagner, Stravinsky, Orff, Rodrigo, Ligeti, Henze, Penderecki, Takemitsu and others.
According to Dr. Peter Hanser-Strecker, CEO of Schott and President of the Publishers' Association of Germany, "Net4Music's industry-leading Internet technology allows publishers to distribute printed music in a much more effective way than ever before. Where distributors and retailers once had problems keeping inventory up-to-date with new instrumentation and arrangements of sought-after titles, the Internet give us a way to deliver exactly what customers want, when they want it. We are extremely excited about the chance to work with Net4Music."
"Carmina Burana is one of the most important classical works of our time," said Francois Duliege, CEO of Net4Music. "We are thrilled to bring the piece to students and music educators in an arrangement that they will find engaging and entertaining to play and teach."
