Appian Selected as One of Only Eight Optical Start-ups to Address
Industry Analysts, Government Officials, Investment Bankers and
Venture Capitalists
Appian Communications, the first to deliver the optical service edge intelligence and scalability to open the first mile to new service revenues, today announced that Appian CEO and Founder Mick Scully will present at "Capital Matters," Red Herring's prestigious conference being held in New York, Dec. 4-5. The exclusive invitation-only forum, produced by Red Herring Events, will focus on the wireless and optical networking industries for an audience of venture capitalists, investment bankers, industry analysts, portfolio managers, mutual fund managers and entrepreneurs. Appian, a privately held optical start-up funded by some of the telecommunications industry's leading venture capital and investment banking organizations, was one of a select group of eight optical start-ups invited to present at the conference, as a result of the early market acceptance of Appian's award-winning product suite.
"We are honored to be among the select group of premier start-ups included in this first Capital Matters conference, and view Red Herring's publications and events as pivotal forums for the issues that drive and grow our industry," noted Scully. His presentation will focus on Appian's award winning OSAP 4800, which effectively opens the optical network for business by solving the "first mile" bottleneck that currently separates corporate networks from the capacity of the optical core and metro portion of service provider networks. The OSAP 4800 enables providers and users to immediately provision bandwidth as needed, enabling users to cost-effectively meet dynamic traffic peaks, launch strategic outsourcing initiatives such as Application Service Provider (ASP) outsourcing, and expand their network services in concert with organizational and market-driven needs. Equally important, Appian's OSAP enables service providers to translate their direct customer access and the core network's rich bandwidth into substantial, competitive new services and profit streams.
The OSAP and AppianVista Service and Element Manager are currently in beta tests with five service providers, including and legacy and legacy-free carriers developing a broad array of application strategies.
