LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 1, 2000

In a recent interview with CEOLive.com, Cobalt Networks (Nasdaq:COBT) co-founder Marc Orr discussed how business development is driving the economy.

&uot;From the point of view of business development,&uot; said Orr, &uot;it gives the opportunity to really see how people are using products and most importantly what they need to be able to use them even better.&uot;

He also discussed the leadership traits necessary to run a successful Internet-based company.

&uot;I think that you'll see that CEOs come from all stripes. I mean, clearly there is a tremendous amount of expertise that's required to build successful companies,&uot; said Orr. &uot;And successful CEOs, I think, will reflect that in terms of the way that they structure their organization and understand and articulate the need to have lots of great generals at their command.&uot;

Orr believes that server appliances will be the next revolution in server technology.

According to Orr, &uot;The basic products are quite powerful, are very simple and affordable and scale through clustering. That basically means that you buy scale as you need it. You buy the capacity as you need it. You don't have to buy it up front and wait for it to be consumed.&uot;
