Dennis Mulhaupt, currently Associate Vice President for Medical External Affairs at Stanford University, will join Claremont McKenna College (CMC) as Vice President for Development and External Relations effective March 15, CMC President Pamela B. Gann announced today.
Mulhaupt has worked at Stanford since November 1997. Prior to that, he served as Senior Associate Dean for Development and Public Affairs at the University of Southern California's College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, as well as USC's Executive Director of University Development.
Mulhaupt graduated magna cum laude from USC in 1977 with a joint degree in international relations and social psychology. He subsequently completed a master's degree in criminology and international relations at the University of Cambridge. He has finished his coursework and is working on his Ph.D. dissertation at the University of Cambridge in international relations and international law. He also received the John Greet Field Award for original research while at Cambridge.
&uot;Dennis' educational background in the social sciences is a very good fit with the mission of the College,&uot; Gann said. In addition to his duties as CMC's chief development officer, Mulhaupt plans to do some teaching in international relations -- the College's third-most-popular major.
Mulhaupt entered into development work in 1990 after a successful career in investment banking and consulting. He lived for seven years in London, where he was a director of Robert Fleming &Co. Ltd. He next worked for six years in Los Angeles with Marsh &McLennan Inc., where he was Vice President and Manager for Political Risk and International Departments.
Claremont McKenna is a highly selective independent liberal arts college educating leaders in business and public affairs. CMC enrolls 1,000 students and is a member of The Claremont Colleges.
