BURLINGAME, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 28, 2000
teleSys Software, Inc., a provider of Next-Generation Intelligent Network (IN) software for telecommunications applications, today announced it has been selected by AG Communication Systems, a subsidiary of Lucent Technologies, to provide the MACH7-IP Gateway.
The product supports in-building and on-campus Wireless Office Service (WOS) systems. AG Communication Systems will utilize the gateway in conjunction with its ROMEO Wireless Office Phone System.
ROAMEO is an adjunct to existing PBX, Centrex or key office phone systems that allows a standard cellular/PCS phone to act as a wireless extension of subscribers' desk phones. The system allows users to make and receive calls and utilize all the features of their office phones (such as call transfer and forwarding, 4- or 5-digit dialing, and three-way calling) with a wireless phone anywhere in a building or campus environment. Calls within range of the system incur no per-minute airtime charges. Subscribers can use the same handset in the external wireless environment, giving them "one-number-reaches-you-anywhere" convenience.
The MACH7-IP Gateway is designed to work in conjunction with existing telephone communications systems (e.g., PBX), as well as support all WOS controllers currently available from major network equipment providers. The gateway provides the means to transport IS-41 and GSM messages via TCP/IP from multiple Wireless Office System Controllers (WOSC) to the Wireless Intelligent Networks (WIN). MACH7-IP Gateway moves the power of Signaling System No. 7 (SS7) to a TCP/IP based client/server environment, allowing unlimited worldwide separation of wireless office controllers.
This architecture provides affordable and secure SS7 connectivity for the wireless service providers.
The MACH7-IP Gateway will provide continuous availability to the user. teleSys Software will provide upgrades, 24 X 7 support, consulting, installation, and training services from their home office in Burlingame, California.
Chuck Hellquist, vice president of wireless products for AG Communication Systems, cited significant benefits for ROAMEO by using the MACH7-IP Gateway. "The MACH7-IP Gateway provides standards for the marketplace that reduce cost of operations and increase the number of user services and overall users," he said. "For ROAMEO, it seamlessly and flawlessly provides the connection between our subscribers and the outside wireless network. We are pleased to partner with teleSys in this capacity."
"MACH7-IP Gateway constitutes an integral part of second-generation wireless office services like ROMEO," said Arlington Glaze, COO of teleSys. "The service allows customers to use their internal 4-digit PBX dialing plan on their wireless phones and allows them to receive calls originally made to their PBX phones. These features are available whether the user is in-building, on-campus or roaming away from these areas nationally."
