TINTON FALLS, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 28, 2000

(NASDAQ:ECCS) Preparing for rising demand for its fault-tolerant data storage systems, ECCS Inc. announced it has signed a contract manufacturing agreement with Hitachi Computer Products under which Hitachi will manufacture the ECCS Synchronix(R) family of data storage products.

This will significantly increase our capacity for continued growth said an ECCS official.

"Demand for the fault tolerant storage products led by the e-commerce and Internet sectors continues to grow. Hitachi will make it easier to increase production, keep pace with demand, and maintain the high quality of our products," said Gregg Azcuy, president and CEO of ECCS. Hitachi is manufacturing the ECCS products at its Norman, Oklahoma facility, which is ISO 9001 certified, he said.

Chuck Phillips, Director, Product Management at Hitachi said, "ECCS' customers include many of the largest users of storage. They rely on these products to ensure the safe transfer and storage of data, which is crucial to the success of their business. ECCS customers cross all industries with the common need for safe, high-performance storage subsystems for their company's assets, information and data."

Azcuy said moving production from ECCS headquarters to the Hitachi site would not result in any job losses and that the company's New Jersey staff continues to grow. "This move will enable ECCS to keep growing and devote its best resources to developing new technology."
