CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 29, 2000
EPSON Electronics America (EEA) Tuesday announced the newest member of its E0C33xx microcontroller (MCU) family.
The E0C332L01 is a high-performance, low-power 32-bit RISC MCU combined with an LCD panel interface for a complete system-on-a-chip solution. With high-speed operation, minimal power consumption and low cost, E0C332L01 is especially suited for portable applications such as digital cameras, personal digital assistants and other handheld devices.
Its built-in peripheral functions, including LCD controller, A/D (analog to digital conversion) and MAC (multiplication accumulation) instruction, minimize overall system cost and eliminate the need to use and configure additional components.
"E0C332L01 is EPSON's first 32-bit MCU with a built-in LCD panel interface, making it ideal for demanding LCD-based embedded applications where there are significant power consumption, form-factor and cost constraints," stated Perminder Tumber, MCU marketing manager, EPSON Electronics America.
"Designers of consumer electronics and handheld devices will save valuable time to market and reap the benefits of their cost-efficient product."
The E0C332L01 features a large 128KB ROM and 8KB RAM memory, EPSON SED1374-compatible 4/8 bit monochrome/color LCD interface offering active matrix TFT/D-TFD interface, a small core and low-power consumption, making it an ideal one-chip solution for portable consumer electronics.
The E0C332L01 tool set includes a PC-based, full in-circuit emulator (ICE) development system and optimized C compiler, allowing for faster coding and reducing time to market.
Price and Availability
Production quantities of E0C332L01 are scheduled for availability in March 2000 at $11.50 for quantities of 100,000 units and $14.75 in 10,000 units, significantly less than competitive alternatives. E0C332L01 will be available in both QFP8-160 package and DIE form.
