HP Cuts Prices Up to 23 Percent On Pentium-based Models of Commercial Desktop and Mobile PCs

and Workstations at Aggressive Prices

Hewlett-Packard Company today announced several price cuts on its Intel(R) Pentium(R)-based models of select HP OmniBook notebook PCs, HP Vectra corporate PCs and HP Kayak PC Workstations.

The price reductions, effective immediately, include the following configurations:

- HP OmniBook 900 notebook PC -- reduced in price by 23 percent, this notebook features a Pentium II 400MHz processor, 32MB SDRAM, 6.4GB hard-disk drive and 12.1 inch SVGA display. Weighing only four pounds, this high-performance system offers customers maximum portability without sacrificing functionality and has an estimated U.S. street price of $1,999(1).

- HP OmniBook 4150 notebook PC -- weighing between 5.8 and 6.6 pounds, this notebook features a Pentium II 400MHz processor, 64MB SDRAM, 10GB hard-disk drive, DVD and 14.1-inch XGA display, and sells for an estimated U.S. street price of $3,049(1), a reduction of about 15.3 percent. Prices on other HP OmniBook 4150 notebook PCs with Intel Pentium III processors also dropped by up to 11 percent, with estimated U.S. street prices for this product family starting at $2,199(1).

- HP Vectra VL PC -- with award-winning manageability and serviceability features, a Pentium III 650MHz processor, 128MB SDRAM, 8.4GB hard-disk drive and Windows NT(R), this corporate PC has an estimated U.S. street price of $1,659(1), an 18 percent price reduction. Similar price cuts also were implemented on other select Pentium III-based models of HP Vectra VL PCs, starting as low as $1,079(1).

- HP Kayak XM600 PC Workstation -- providing sophisticated office capabilities, high-performance 2-D/3-D graphics, and dual-processing power, this mini tower features a Pentium III 600MHz processor, 128MB RDRAM, 9.1GB SCSI hard-disk drive, 3Dlabs' Oxygen GVX1 graphics and Windows NT. The estimated U.S. street price is $2,779(1), a 12 percent price reduction. Prices on other HP Kayak XM600 PC Workstations start as low as $1,559(1).
