BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 7, 2000
AppWorx Corporation today announced that Oracle Corporation is implementing AppWorx software as part of its sweeping initiative to improve global IT services, and restructure the use of computing systems throughout the company.
The database giant is in the midst of streamlining operations and consolidating vital systems from 40 data centers around the world down to two locations. AppWorx, an enterprise process automation solution certified for Oracle Applications 11 and Oracle 8i, will help extend the capabilities of these newly revamped data centers. In addition, AppWorx provides a solid framework for the automation of traditional manual system and database administration tasks. In this regard, AppWorx will be used to automate and manage the flow of Oracle's internal Global IT systems automation processes, from job submission and error tracking through output delivery. It will also define IT system operations policies based on job priorities, job-related failures and repairs, and resource availability, and ensure &uot;hands-off&uot; operational efficiency.
&uot;For the past six months, we've been on a course to revitalize our IT infrastructure with new technologies and improved processes,&uot; said Gary Roberts, senior vice president, Global IT. &uot;The first priority is assembling the right infrastructure tools to support top-flight data center and e-business services. AppWorx will be key in automating processes, flagging problems, improving productivity, eliminating recurring repair issues, and helping system and database performance and uptime.&uot;
&uot;Having been an Oracle partner since 1992, we are delighted to play a role in Oracle's current transformation,&uot; said Bill Wrenn, president and CEO of AppWorx. &uot;By selecting AppWorx, Oracle's Global IT organization can do away with many of the manual inefficiencies that have hindered processing. Like our other customers we would expect Oracle to see dramatic cost reductions and increased productivity.&uot;
AppWorx is best known for automating and accelerating business processes across a wide range of applications and platforms. In particular, the product can set policies and manage processing based on data volume, resource availability, time constraints, changing data values and application dependencies, so that processes run faster and are error free. By using AppWorx automation capabilities Oracle Global IT intends to reduce the workload for current technical personnel by 30 percent and re-deploy their efforts to other areas of the business.
