SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 7, 2000

ShortCycles Inc., the emerging leader in business-to-business e-services for sales and marketing information exchange, has named former Sybase Executive Vice President of Marketing Stewart A. Schuster to its board of directors.

Schuster is currently a venture partner at Brentwood Venture Capital, a firm with interests in computer networking, Internet, enterprise software and health-care companies.

&uot;With his pioneering efforts at marketing the client-server architecture at Sybase and excellent record investing in and mentoring emerging companies, Stu brings a new level of insight to ShortCycles,&uot; said Ed Mueller, chief executive officer, ShortCycles. &uot;He understands the communication problem that exists between sales, marketing and channel partners, and believes that ShortCycles has the technology to solve it.&uot;

Schuster was named to the 1994 All-Star Executive Team by Upside magazine for his work at Sybase, where he was executive vice president of marketing in charge of worldwide product marketing, channels, partner development and corporate marketing communications. During his tenure, Sybase grew from its initial product launch to $1 billion in revenues and became the fifth-largest independent software company. Schuster also has held senior management positions at Ingres, Tandem Computers and Intel.

&uot;With the pervasiveness of the Internet, we've seen a tremendous increase in the amount of information available. The paradoxical result is that customers are better-informed about competitive offerings than ever before -- while sales professionals have difficulty staying abreast of their own offerings, let alone those of their competitors,&uot; said Schuster. &uot;ShortCycles breaks the paradox by giving sales professionals and channel partners immediate access to the precise information in order to close more deals.&uot;

Schuster graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics and holds a doctorate in computer science from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana.
