ROCHESTER, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 7, 2000

Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) today announced that the American Productivity &Quality Center (APQC) has named Xerox one of five global organizations that serve as models for implementing knowledge management successfully.

&uot;Xerox changed the way the business world looked at Total Quality and benchmarking,&uot; said Carla O'Dell, APQC president and subject matter expert for APQC's Successfully Implementing Knowledge Management. &uot;Their leadership will now transform the way enterprises think about sharing knowledge.&uot;

Based on secondary research and the knowledge of subject matter expert O'Dell, 12 organizations were nominated for excellence in knowledge management. The APQC's 39 sponsor companies then selected the five organizations against which they would benchmark for best practices.

&uot;Similar to the leadership role we took in Total Quality, Xerox has launched a cultural transformation that is making knowledge sharing a part of everything we say, do and think,&uot; said Dan Holtshouse, director of corporate strategy, Xerox Corporation. &uot;Knowledge sharing not only makes Xerox more competitive in the Internet and knowledge-based economy, it also helps us to anticipate and meet our customers' needs more effectively.&uot;

Xerox hosted a site visit for the sponsor companies and will present best practices at the APQC Knowledge Transfer Session, February 7-9 in Houston, along with other honorees Siemens AG, The World Bank, Hewlett-Packard and Chevron.

The APQC is a world-renowned resource for process and performance improvement for organizations of all sizes and across all industries.
