Data Broadcasting Delivers Wireless eSignal Market Data to Seven Million BT Cellnet Users; Company Continues Aggressive Internet Strategy

In an agreement with Genie Internet, BT Cellnet's mobile Internet Service Provider, Data Broadcasting Corp. (Nasdaq:DBCC), America's leading provider of real-time financial market data to traders and individual investors, today announced that it will supply eSignal's market data, using WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) technology, to a potential seven million users of the BT Cellnet cellular phone service.

As a result of this agreement, eSignal will offer its market data services over Genie Internet's WAP-enabled cellular phones. WAP is the technology that enables cellular phones to access data carried over the Internet. Customers will have access to market quotes from all of the major exchanges, plus a wealth of financial information, news and other essential market data -- all at the touch of a button. Users can access the WAP-enabled site through their BT Cellnet phones at http://phone.esignal.com.

From October to December 1999, BT Cellnet reported an increase of one million new mobile phone customers. In 1999, the company grew by 2.9 million customers, bringing its total to 6.95 million customers. BT Cellnet is the United Kingdom's absolute market leader for post-pay customers with 3.93 million users. Launched in September 1997, its Genie Mobile Internet Service Provider (www.genie.co.uk) has achieved 500,000 users registered on its portal site. Genie was the first service worldwide to send information from the Internet direct to a mobile phone.
