buy.com Recruits New Executives to Join Management Team

buy.com, a leading Internet retailer, Monday announced the appointment of five new vice presidents to its executive management roster.
VP Product Management Michael Walkey, age 35, former president of Aliso Viejo-based BLT Electronics, joins the company as vice president of product management, a new position. Walkey brings to buy.com more than 15 years of experience in the distribution industry. Prior to BLT, he served as vice president of purchasing for Ingram Micro Inc., a leading worldwide wholesale provider of technology products and services. During his nine-year tenure with Ingram Micro, Walkey oversaw major manufacturer relationships, including IBM, Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, Toshiba and Apple. In his new role, Walkey is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day product management operations for buy.com.
VP Fulfillment Operations
buy.com also brings aboard the logistics and operations expertise of Tom Wright, a distribution executive, who has 18 years in Operations and Logistics. Wright spent the past 10 years with Ingram Micro. Wright, age 39, will serve as vice president of fulfillment operations for buy.com, and he will oversee the company's worldwide operations activities. While at Ingram Micro, Wright last served as vice president of logistics, and managed the company's North American operations, logistics, supply chain operations and global compliance.
VP Media Sales
In addition, buy.com has appointed Mark MacDonald, age 43, to the position of vice president of media sales. MacDonald has more than 15 years of experience in the publishing industry, and last served as group publisher for the Individual Investor Group, based in New York. Prior to that, MacDonald was the founding publisher of the highly acclaimed Men's Journal Magazine, as well as group publisher of Family Life Magazine. He also served as vice president of advertising for US News & World Report and managed the magazine's international sales organization.
VP Customer Service
Travis Fagan, age 28, joins the company in a new position, as vice president of customer service. Fagan is now responsible for all customer support for buy.com, as well as strategic development of customer service and customer communications. Prior to joining buy.com, Fagan held management positions with Wells Fargo and US WEST Communications, and worked as a consultant for Arthur Andersen Business Consulting. Most recently, Fagan was vice president and manager of customer care for Wells Fargo's Online Financial Services Group. His responsibilities included contact center management, business planning, and vendor relationship management. As a consultant, Fagan focused on contact center development, and strategic planning for customer service and sales operations.
VP Global Business Development
Murray Williams, age 29, has been promoted to a new role as vice president of global business development. Williams is one of the initial members of the buy.com team and over the past two years has successfully established and developed the finance, legal and business development departments. During his tenure with buy.com, Williams held the titles of director of finance and vice president of finance. Prior to joining buy.com, Williams spent five years with KPMG Peat Marwick, LLP, and last served as a Manager in the assurance practice. In his new role, Williams will oversee the overall global expansion of buy.com and focus on expanding existing categories as well as establishing new categories that buy.com adds to it's virtual e-commerce operating model. In addition, Williams is also responsible for all merger and acquisition initiatives that buy.com may consider.
