WHO:

Jesse Jackson, Rainbow/PUSH, two 11th graders and an

award-winning teacher who have participated in The Stock Market

Game.

WHAT:

The announcement of the launch of New York-based pilot program

that will promote financial literacy and economic education among

minority children through the use of The Stock Market Game, an

Internet-based stock market simulation. The program will be held

in conjunction with Rainbow/PUSH's Wall Street Project, which

campaigns for greater racial diversity on Wall Street.

A panel discussion featuring two 11th graders, Lily Torres and

Evan Jones, who have participated in SMG, and their teacher,

David Kaplan. They will discuss how The Stock Market Game

empowers and teaches life skills.

WHY:

Jesse Jackson and Rainbow/PUSH Coalition's Wall Street Project

identified The Stock Market Game as a major educational tool in

promoting economic literacy among inner city students. This past

fall, Rainbow/PUSH and The Stock Market Game successfully piloted

a program in Chicago in which students participated in SMG. The

Stock Market Game is nationally owned and operated by the

Securities Industry Foundation for Economic Education, an

affiliate of the Securities Industry Association.
