HERZLIYA, Israel--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 14, 2000

VocalTec Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq: VOCL), the Internet protocol (IP) communications company, today announced Douglas M. Dunn has joined its Board of Directors.

Dunn, a highly regarded former executive with AT&T Corp., is dean of Carnegie Mellon University's prestigious Graduate School of Industrial Administration (GSIA), the first non-traditional (non-academic) professional to hold the post. Dunn immediately fills a vacant position on the Board. His arrival follows the addition of William L. Schrader, chairman of the Board of Directors, chief executive officer (CEO) and founder of PSINet Inc. (Nasdaq: PSIX), to the VocalTec Board this past November.

Dunn was appointed GSIA's dean in 1996, bringing with him extensive industry experience in telecommunications, multimedia and public policy. At Carnegie Mellon Business School, Dunn has instituted measures to sharpen the academic focus of GSIA -- concentrating on technology globalization and entrepreneurship -- resulting in increased external rankings for the school. Additionally, Dunn is credited with introducing a new concentration and specialized master's degree program in e-commerce.

Before joining GSIA, Dunn held numerous leadership roles at AT&T Corp. involving visual communications and multimedia strategy, regional and government affairs and federal regulatory matters. During nearly two decades of service, he held such key positions as Vice President of Visual Communications & Multimedia Strategy; Vice President of Southern Region Government Affairs, and Vice President of Regulatory Matters. Dunn also worked for eight years at AT&T Bell Laboratories as a technical staff member in Mathematics Research, focusing on exploratory data analysis, time series modeling and economic analyses.

"VocalTec pioneered the VoIP industry and continues to drive its evolution," said Douglas Dunn. "I have been fortunate to join in the development of modern-day telecommunications. Now, I am extremely excited to be able to contribute to its very bright future as a Board Member for VocalTec."

"Douglas Dunn possesses a wealth of experience in telecommunications and we are particularly pleased with his focus on e-commerce at Carnegie Mellon," said Elon Ganor, CEO and chairman of VocalTec Communications. "We are thrilled to add another executive of this caliber to our Board of Directors."

Dunn is involved in leadership roles for many professional and civic organizations, including: Advisory Board, IBM Institute for Advanced Commerce; Board Member, Pittsburgh Regional Alliance; Executive Committee & Board Member, Innovation Works; and Board Member, Universal Stainless & Alloy Products. He has also been: Board Member & Treasurer, American Statistical Association; and Chairperson/Personnel Task Force, Georgia Governor's Commission on Effectiveness and Economy in Government. Dunn completed the AT&T Advanced Management Program in 1986, earned a Ph.D. in business (Statistics) from the University of Michigan in 1970, and obtained a M.S. (Industrial Management) degree from Georgia Tech in 1965.
