Sun Microsystems Appoints Jonathan McKay as Vice President and General Manager, Internet Application and Performance Tools

Sun Microsystems, Inc. today announced that Jonathan McKay has been appointed vice president and general manager of Sun's Internet Application and Performance Tools. McKay will report to Patricia C. Sueltz, President, Sun's Software Products and Platforms division.

In his new role, McKay is responsible for Sun's software development and integration tools product strategy. These include the Forte(tm) for Java(tm) integrated development environments, Forte Fusion(tm) enterprise application integration suite, Java Blend(tm), Java Message Queue, Visual WorkShop(tm) C/C , Performance WorkShop(tm) Fortran and the Forte 4GL application environment.

Prior to joining Sun, McKay was responsible for Forte Software's strategic marketing efforts, including corporate and product positioning. He directed Forte's highly successful diversification into the enterprise application integration (EAI) market with Forte Fusion. Previously, McKay was Forte's director of European operations, and was responsible for establishing new channels throughout Europe and the Middle East. A 20-year veteran of the high-tech industry, McKay has held senior sales and operations positions at firms including Sybase, StorageTek and Unisys.
