SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 17, 2000
WHO: Venture Frogs, LLC, and the American Red Cross WHAT: To date, over 50,000 unique visitors to www.charityfrogs.com have clicked on the "RIBBIT!" button, resulting in over $50,000 to be donated by Venture Frogs to the American Red Cross. The site, which has been updated and redesigned, urges visitors to click on the "RIBBIT!" button. For every unique click received on the "RIBBIT!" button, the founders of Venture Frogs will donate $1 to the American Red Cross, up to a maximum of $1 million. The goal is to receive 1,000,000 clicks before the promotion expires on March 31, 2000. WHERE: http://www.charityfrogs.com WHY: The founders of Venture Frogs who are pledging to donate up to $1 million are Tony Hsieh, 26, and Alfred Lin, 26. Prior to forming Venture Frogs earlier this year, the two were part of the founding team of LinkExchange, which was sold to Microsoft (Nasdaq:MSFT) last year for $265 million. Charity Frogs is a project that was formed as an Internet experiment with a philanthropic twist. The big question: Can word of mouth via the Internet result in 1,000,000 unique visitors and clicks to the Charity Frogs web site by March 31, 2000? The founders of Venture Frogs are prepared to donate $1 million to the American Red Cross if the answer is yes. WHEN: Until March 31, 2000
