Integrated eBusiness Intelligence Suite Brings Analytical Power to

PeopleSoft Solutions Across the Enterprise;

Shipment of Suite Marks Debut of PeopleSoft Internet Architecture

PeopleSoft today announced shipment of the next generation of PeopleSoft Enterprise Performance Management, an integrated suite of eBusiness intelligence applications that enable organizations to make strategic business decisions based on enterprise-wide data.

The first set of products built on PeopleSoft's PeopleTools 8 Internet architecture, Enterprise Performance Management 8 is entirely accessible over the Internet through a standard browser. By leveraging Internet standards and integration tools, Enterprise Performance Management 8 enables customers to harness internal data from transactional applications as well as external data from the Internet.

The integrated suite, which marks the second generation of PeopleSoft Enterprise Performance Management, includes new products such as Balanced Scorecard and Workforce Analytics, and new versions of Enterprise Warehouse and Activity Based Management. Several other components of Enterprise Performance Management 8 will become available throughout the first quarter of 2000, including several Web-based eBusiness Intelligence workbenches for customer, workforce, and financial analysis, and a new suite of Profitability Management applications for the financial services industry.

"With its newest round of eBusiness intelligence solutions in Enterprise Performance Management 8, PeopleSoft is enabling customers to attain an added level of value from enterprise applications," said Henry Morris, vice president, Data Warehousing and Applications, International Data Corp. "By integrating high-level analytic applications such as Balanced Scorecard with more specialized applications such as Workforce Analytics upon a common foundation of Activity Based Management, PeopleSoft's Enterprise Performance Management suite is architected to enable users to make unified decisions based on a consistent stream of information and analysis."

PeopleSoft Enterprise Performance Management 8 delivers 15 new and enhanced products, built on an all-new architecture that includes best-of-breed data acquisition, scalable ROLAP technology, metadata management, and Web-based interactive reporting. These products are grouped into four eBusiness intelligence solution areas that can be used as an integrated product suite or independently to suit any company's requirements:

-- Customer Relationship Analytics--enables companies to understand

customer revenue patterns, customer behavior, and customer

profitability in order to improve customer service and target

business opportunities

-- Workforce Analytics--aligns a company's workforce with strategic

objectives; enables closed-loop decision-making based on company

data as well as benchmarks and survey data from external service

providers

-- Strategy and Financial Analytics--measures, analyzes, and

communicates strategic and financial objectives across

departmental boundaries, creating a collaborative environment for

achieving enterprise wide goals

-- Industry Analytics--optimizes business processes that are unique

to specific industries, such as financial services, retail, and

utilities

Additionally, the following applications are leveraged across the entire set of solutions, enabling Enterprise Performance Management 8 to operate as a fully integrated, comprehensive eBusiness Intelligence package:

-- Balanced Scorecard - Functioning as the central nervous system of

the Enterprise Performance Management system, the Balanced

Scorecard allows senior management to communicate the strategy of

the organization to all employees through a system of key

performance indicators drawn from financial measures, customer

knowledge, internal business processes, and workforce factors.

-- Activity Based Management - Co-developed with Dr. Robert Kaplan,

Dr. Robin Cooper, and KPMG as an integrated activity based

management solution, Activity Based Management provides the

ability for organizations to implement strategic cost management

and multi-dimensional profitability analysis.

-- Enterprise Warehouse - The main repository of enterprise

information, the PeopleSoft Enterprise Warehouse draws from

PeopleSoft applications as well as other ERP and legacy systems

to stage, store and make information available for analysis in an

open, customizable and scalable environment.

"As competition in the Internet economy continues its rapid increase, organizations must be able to leverage eBusiness solutions for more than transactions," said Mike Gioja, executive vice president of products and technology at PeopleSoft, Inc. "With Enterprise Performance Management 8 and the new PeopleSoft Internet architecture, PeopleSoft is providing the tools for organizations to make better decisions about their customers, their employees, and their finances."
