BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 18, 2000

--600 end-users and 120 vendors surveyed

--Results size B2B market and show Best Practices at leading B2B

end-users

Focusing on quantifying and understanding the B2B (internet-based business-to-business) market, The Delphi Group has released the findings of an extensive survey among end-users and vendors of B2B tools.

B2B Market Show Exponential Growth

The study sized the B2B market at $5 billion dollars in 1999. "We believe it will double in size during each of the next two years, followed by an accelerated growth rate in the years beyond that," stated Delphi President Thomas Koulopoulos. "The market for B2B tools alone is showing astounding potential," explained Koulopoulos. "Our conservative projection for 100% CAGR in the coming years can easily be exceeded if the number of new entrants into this space continues to climb."

B2B Best Practices

Delphi also questioned 600 end users at F1000 companies to determine best practices in B2B e-business. "We used a series of approximately 40,000 datapoints to compare trends, attitudes and practices among the 600-individual survey population against the same trends, attitudes and practices of early adopters," reported Delphi Executive VP, Carl Frappaolo. "The results demonstrated a significant delta in attitudes among leaders and laggards." A summary of Delphi*s findings is available at http://www.delphigroup.com/e-biz-report

Individuals can rank themselves against this survey base by taking a quick e-bizIQ test at http://www.delphigroup.com/ebiziq. The full test is available to Delphi subscribers.

e-Business Research and Education

Delphi's Insight Series report on e-Business represents one of the most ambitious surveys of the B2B e-business market to date. The three-volume report covers a broad spectrum of issues from the definition of e-business to case studies and includes a comprehensive review of the factors that have given rise to the current e-business trend. The just-released second volume details the results of Delphi's survey of 600 individuals across a variety of industries in the F1000. "We classified a subset of these individuals (approx. 30%) as e-active based on their responses," said Frappaolo. "We then measured the ranking of these savvy organizations and the relative ranking of the remaining 422 respondents to provide a qualitative and quantitative look at the driving attitudes and practices of leading edge e-businesses."

Other volumes in Delphi's e-Business Insight Series research offer a framework for understanding the different functions of e-business offerings, and provide a comprehensive catalog and evaluation of current e-Business technology providers. Complementing this research are e-Business educational events including seminars and the Delphi e-Business Summit (http://www.delphisummit.com), this May 5-10, 2000 in San Diego.
