NEW YORK, NY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 20, 2000
Register.com's Third Party Protocol Application Allows Other Web Sites to Provide a Complete Domain Registration Solution to their Own Customers
Register.com, Inc. (www.register.com) today announced the launch of the register.com Third Party Protocol application (TPP), through which virtually any other web site can incorporate a comprehensive register.com domain registration solution. Through this Application Program Interface (API), TPP users can interface directly with register.com's domain registration system, enabling them to register and manage domain names, bill credit cards, provide customer service support and even change technical data.
&uot;Through Third Party Protocol, register.com is providing a complete and easy to use package for the aspiring registrar,&uot; said register.com CEO and President Richard Forman. &uot;Unlike with many other back-end registration solutions, TPP users can offer high quality domain registration services, without building their own systems or diverting traffic from their own site -- and they can do so while promoting their own brand.&uot;
Register.com's proprietary Third Party Protocol technology allows customers to interface in real time with the central domain name registry for .com, .net and .org, as well as over 20 international country code top level domains, including .co.uk (United Kingdom), .co.nz (New Zealand) and .md (Moldova). In addition to registration services, TPP provides access to register.com's Whois and billing engine and also offers domain management tools that assist with customer support by allowing users to modify IP addresses, DNS Server information and contact information for their customers.
&uot;TPP is not limited to just domain registration,&uot; said Robert Gardos, register.com's Vice President of Technology. &uot;It enables aspiring registrars to instantly accept customer credit cards, manage technical data and change Whois profile information.&uot;
