SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 31, 2000

XACCT Technologies, Inc., the leading provider of the intelligent business infrastructure for IP networks and a charter member of the IPDR Organization, today announced that it has put the source code with a reference implementation of the proposed IPDR (Internet Protocol Detail Record) standard in public domain.

The proposed standard is based on an industry effort aimed at ensuring interoperability between various IP mediation systems and billing applications. The IPDR Working Group, which is expected to ratify the draft IPDR specification in the first quarter of 2000, plans to forward its recommendation to standards bodies such as the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) and others.

The source code consists of two libraries -- one generates IPDR format and transport and delivers the result to a receiving system, and the other receives IPDR and parses it into its components. The receiving downstream applications such as rating and billing can easily process these components to facilitate quick integration. XACCT is committed to updating the code as the standard evolves.

The source code for the proposed IPDR, &uot;1.0 Working Draft-Rev B,&uot; can be downloaded at no cost from www.xacct.com/ipdr/.> In addition, XACCT will provide, as part of its product offering, a data collection module to capture IPDRs from any mediation system that generates IPDRs.

&uot;XACCT's announcement is another step forward in assuring our customers of an industry-leading interoperable solution,&uot; said Shlomo Baleli, president of the R& and Corporate Services Division at Amdocs (NYSE:DOX), a leading provider of customer care, order management, and billing solutions for voice-IP convergence. &uot;The establishment and broad acceptance of the new IPDR standard is a key enabler for cooperation and growth in the IP world.&uot;

&uot;We are pleased to see XACCT leading the way by making the source code available to the industry,&uot; said Dr. John Yin, chief technology officer at Daleen Technologies (Nasdaq:DALN), a leading provider of e-business infrastructure for the digital economy and a charter member and active contributor to IPDR Organization.

&uot;This initiative will accelerate the acceptance and implementation of IPDR, which we strongly embrace. Daleen and XACCT have successfully conducted an IPDR interoperability test, based on the current IPDR draft.&uot;

&uot;This announcement demonstrates XACCT's commitment to the overall growth of the IP services market,&uot; said Kevin Kimsa, vice chairman and chief strategy officer at Solect Technology Group, a leading provider of IP billing solutions.

&uot;As a supporting member of the IPDR organization and a strong contributor to the IPDR specification, Solect will demonstrate interoperability of its IAF Horizon with XACCT-generated IPDRs. We are committed to working closely with XACCT to further develop and standardize future IPDR initiatives.&uot;

&uot;XACCT's commitment to put the IPDR source code in public domain should be commended by the industry. XACCT is taking a leadership role by enabling quick adoption of the standard and faster time to market for billing vendors' implementations,&uot; said Jennifer Kula, an analyst with Boston-based TeleChoice.

&uot;XACCT has the expertise and insight gained by working with leading partners in the billing market to accelerate the industry today as well as continue to advance this market in the future.&uot;

IPDR

The Internet Protocol Detail Record (IPDR) Organization is a non-profit, ad-hoc industry group working to define the essential elements of data exchange between network elements, operations support systems, and business support systems. Its purpose is to provide the foundation for open, carrier-grade IP support systems that enable next-generation IP networks to operate efficiently and cost effectively.

&uot;The IPDR initiative, led by Telestrategies, has done an excellent job of raising the awareness of the mediation issues in IP networks. XACCT is uniquely qualified to deliver the first reference implementation of the IPDR. We've already integrated XACCTusage with virtually all of the leading billing solutions worldwide. The XACCT system can now simply be configured to produce IPDR format and transport,&uot; said Anil Uberoi, vice president of marketing at XACCT.

A number of XACCTready partners will demonstrate IPDR interoperability at the OSS 2000 Conference &Exhibition being held in Orlando, Fla., from Jan. 31 to Feb. 2, 2000. The XACCTready Alliance, launched by XACCT in June 1999, now has 51 members worldwide, including leading OSS/BSS software solutions providers, network systems vendors and systems integration/value-added solutions providers.
