NEW YORK--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Jan. 3, 2000
Shakir Stewart has been promoted to Vice President of Creative Services at Hitco Music Publishing Company ("Hitco") in Atlanta, GA. The promotion was announced by Hitco's CEO and Co-President of LaFace Records, Antonio "L.A" Reid, and Windswept Holding's, LLC President, Evan Medow.
Hitco Music, the joint venture between L.A. Reid and Los Angeles based Windswept Holding's has quickly become a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. Since its inception in 1996, Hitco Music continues to grow, currently boasting a roster of songwriters and producers who have consistently dominated the BILLBOARD and R&B music charts. Hitco Music's knack for introducing new and original songwriters has been evidenced with the signing and success of Kevin "Shek'spere" Briggs (TLC's "No Scrubs" and Destiny's Child, "Bills, Bills, Bills"), Organized Noize (the production trio responsible for TLC's "Waterfalls"), Tony Rich (1996 BMI Song of the Year and Grammy recipient for best R&B album), Gordon Chambers ("I Apologize" and "If You Love Me"), and Anthony Dent ("Friend of Mine").
As he assumes this role, Stewart will be responsible for finding and signing songwriters and producers, and exploiting their copyrights. He will also serve as the point person overseeing the company's day-to-day management operations.
