ROME--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 5, 2000
Telecommunications giant expands its use of Bentley software, taking advantage of its intranet to distribute cartographic and network data
Bentley Systems, Incorporated (Exton, PA) today announced that TELECOM ITALIA S.p.A., Italy's largest, and one of the leading European telecommunications companies, has extended its use of software in the area of IT data distribution using Bentley's ModelServer Discovery(R).
Telecom Italia, already a user of over 2,000 Bentley software licenses, is ending its internal tests of the WebCAD application, which will be put in production at the very beginning of year 2000.
The main goal of this Internet application is to make the graphic and alphanumeric information from Telecom Italia's network available, bringing the advantages of Web technology to about 3,000 users connected now to its intranet.
The use of ModelServer(R) technology has allowed Telecom Italia to deploy, in a short time frame, a very complex application that is fully compatible with its existing MicroStation-based applications. The ability to view such data by taking advantage of the intranet and Web tools will allow Telecom Italia to increase quality and to speed up working procedures.
Also the internal users that do not use CAD or GIS tools will be able to access the data made available to them by the WebCAD application.
