Seasoned Venture Capital and High-Tech Leader Raj Parekh Appointed Chairman of Board for GTRAN

GTRAN, a leading provider of high-speed data solutions for multimedia wireless and fiber optic transmissions, and manufacturer of DotSurfer(TM), the industry's only IS95B based 64kb/s wireless PCMCIA type II card, Monday announced the appointment of Raj Parekh as chairman of GTRAN's board of directors.
Parekh, who brings more than 20 years of management and executive experience to GTRAN, is a founding partner at Redwood Venture Partners, a venture capital firm focusing on seed and early stage investments in high-technology companies. He earned a master's degree in electrical engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of New York.
Parekh also received a BE/BS in electrical engineering from the L.D. College of Engineering, India, and holds several U.S. patents.

Parakh also served as vice president of engineering -- chief technical officer of SUN Microsystems and general manager of Java Products at SUN Microelectronics (Nasdaq: SUNW). He was the vice president and general manager of Silicon Graphics (Nasdaq: SGI), and served as chairman of the board for Tharas Systems, Campio Communication, Pulse Core, Jedi Technology and Niksun.
