RESTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 11, 2000
VCampus Corporation (Nasdaq: VCMP), a leading e-Learning Application Service Provider (ASP) that develops, manages and hosts turn-key, web-based learning environment for government agencies, as well as corporations and academic institutions, today announced that the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) will begin a six-month pilot program of its e-learning solution.
VCampus will create two virtual campuses for the department -- one open campus and one restricted campus.
Through the program, 9,000 VA employees in 10 locations, representing the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) and the National Cemetery Administration, will have access to nearly 300 courses from the VCampus Courseware Library. If the pilot is successful, the VA will go department-wide with the complete VCampus solution.
"We are excited about using this learning technology, and have been impressed by the work VCampus has done with other federal agencies and departments," said Stan Sinclair, dean of the VA Learning University. "We look forward to providing Department employees another avenue for online learning through the VALU Online University, our version of the VCampus product."
VCampus also powers the General Services Administration's Online University and the GSA-sponsored GovLearn. Powered by VCampus, GovLearn is a government-wide virtual campus that offers online learning to agency employees as well as individual government employees who are looking for training.
With courses on topics ranging from personal development to information technology to management skills, the GovLearn virtual campus is modeled after the GSA's own Online University. So far, employees from more than 30 federal agencies/departments, including the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Education, the National Weather Service and the Department of Labor, have taken courses through GovLearn.
