MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 12, 2000
SKECHERS USA (NYSE:SKX), Inc., a global leader in lifestyle footwear, announced the successful launch of a national promotion with Wherehouse Music. The "Summer Just Got Better" promotion started July 4, 2000 in Wherehouse Music's 515 stores nationwide and features special offers from SKECHERS footwear.
For the Wherehouse Music summer loyalty promotion, which runs July 4 through September 11, 2000, every customer will receive a "Summer Just Got Better" punch card with any purchase of $9.99 or more at Wherehouse Music. Cards receive a stamp with each additional $9.99 or more purchase, which makes card holders eligible for special product offers from strategic partners including SKECHERS USA, Rolling Stone Magazine, Champs Sports and MXGonline.com. Two stamps equal a $10 SKECHERS gift certificate, and nine stamps entitle customers to 50 percent off SKECHERS vouchers redeemable for shoe purchases made online or through SKECHERS' toll-free number. The final tier of 10 stamps allows customers to receive a free CD from Wherehouse Music.
"SKECHERS has a loyal customer base, and our partnerships keep their interests in mind. Our cross-promotional projects reflect the best names in music, fashion, and new and traditional medias that are fun, cutting-edge and timely," said SKECHERS President Michael Greenberg. "Working with Wherehouse Music enables us to introduce new SKECHERS product and generate high-level interest and exposure for our skechers.com Web site."
"In the competitive world of music retailing, it is important to us, as a retailer, to give the music consumer unique promotions that enhance their shopping experience. By rewarding loyal spending behavior with products and offers our consumers want, Wherehouse Music creates a point of differentiation that allows us to stand out in this competitive market place," said Renee Geddis, Vice President of Marketing at Wherehouse Music. "SKECHERS reflects that exciting, cutting-edge attitude that is so often associated with music and its fans so they were an obvious choice for this great summer promotion."
Wherehouse Music will distribute approximately 1,275,000 SKECHERS mini-catalogs with $10 SKECHERS gift certificates to customers who reach Level Two on the punch card. An estimated 30,000 credit-card size vouchers for 50 percent off SKECHERS shoes will be handed out to participating customers reaching Level Nine. Purchases can be made online or through the SKECHERS By Mail Magalog's toll-free number, 1-800-SHOE-411. The "Summer Just Got Better" promotion will carry the SKECHERS name and logo on national print ads and radio spots in more than 30 major markets, and on in-store POP signage.
