Incanta has also enlisted VA Linux Professional Services to implement a suite of Open Source network management software applications for load-balancing and remote management, resulting in a highly scalable, reliable architecture capable of supporting millions of simultaneous online users.
Incanta delivers customized content -- music, sports, short-length films and games -- to broadband service providers and the households they serve. Incanta debuted its broadband music service, which provides the experience of a CD-quality, personalized radio station with limitless capacity, in March of this year.
"As broadband use becomes more widespread, the ability to scale Incanta's network to handle large numbers of users and ensure content delivery to our broadband service provider affiliates will be vital to our success. Leveraging the robustness of the VA Linux servers and the experience and responsiveness of the VA Linux Professional Services group, we've created a smart network capable of delivering high-quality audio and video to the broadband market, 24 hours a day," said Allan Tear, chief operating officer and co-founder of Incanta. "VA Linux has made it easy to expand our broadband network in a very short period of time. With VA Linux, we have a strategic partner willing to align its business goals with ours -- something every startup can benefit from."
To help Incanta manage its highly distributed edge network with thousands of servers located across the globe, VA Linux Professional Services implemented Linux Virtual Server (LVS), an Open Source load-balancing tool, leading to improved performance and significant time and cost savings for Incanta.
"Incanta is building an impressive network infrastructure well positioned to take advantage of future growth in broadband usage," said Dr. Larry M. Augustin, president and CEO, VA Linux Systems. "VA Linux is pleased to be an integral part of Incanta's 'smart network,' providing not only the reliability of our servers, but also our Professional Services expertise in implementing Open Source network management solutions."
