BRIDGEWATER, NJ & PLANO, TX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 17, 2000
(Nasdaq: DSET)-DSET Corporation's local-loop ordering gateway, ezLocal, and MetaSolv Software, Inc.'s (Nasdaq: MSLV) Telecom Business Solution(TM) (TBS(TM)) order management and service fulfillment solution were cited as key elements in the operations support system (OSS) architecture that won the SUPERQuest Award presented to Allegiance Telecom, Inc., a major facilities-based competitive local exchange carrier, at SUPERCOMM 2000. The award was sponsored by CMP Media's tele.com and Network Magazine.
The DSET electronic-bonding gateway for ordering local loops from the former regional Bell operating companies (e.g. Bell Atlantic) has been deployed in combination with MetaSolv's TBS solution for nearly two years. The Allegiance operations support system was recognized as the best application in the "Best Built Public Network or Service/OSS" category. This advanced system has cut the interval required to switch customers from Allegiance's trading partners from 30-45 days to 10-15 days.
Allegiance Telecom, DSET and MetaSolv made national news in January 1999 when they announced the first successful implementation of automated ordering with Bell Atlantic. Since then, Allegiance has interconnected with Southwestern Bell, Pacific Bell, and Ameritech. Using the DSET ezLocal gateway, Allegiance expects to be bonded electronically with every ILEC in its markets by the end of 2000.
"The SUPERQuest award is yet another sign noting the groundbreaking importance of Allegiance's electronic bonding achievement," said Dana Brown, MetaSolv's vice president of marketing. "It also highlights the importance of building and maintaining a relationship with alliance partners in order to provide the most effective solutions to our customers."
"DSET and MetaSolv have worked together to enable electronic-bonding successes such as that achieved by Allegiance, beginning with Allegiance's pioneering interconnection with Bell Atlantic," said Phil Cavallo, DSET's senior vice president of worldwide sales and marketing. "Recognizing the complexities of implementing electronic bonding in diverse production environments, DSET and MetaSolv together established a testing and integration lab in 1999 specifically to streamline the deployment of our products. Knowledge gained at the lab and growing experience in the field promise to give the benefits now enjoyed by Allegiance to many more carriers."
