SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 18, 2000

An advanced version of prototyping, development and management software that enables programmers and others to build, re-engineer and manage IBM DB2 databases and applications has been placed on the market by Bunker Hill Corporation.

The new ei-O (electronic input-Output) product is more powerful and easier to use than the previous generation tool, Scriptoria for DB2, which is being used by thousands of programmers worldwide to prototype and develop DB2 databases and applications.

"The new version results in increased productivity and flexibility, improved operational control and reduced learning costs," according to Ron Tornambe, Bunker Hill president. "It can be profitably used by programmers, business analysts and management who rely on DB2 UDB databases to design new databases or to safely modify their existing systems."

The ei-O software works with Microsoft Access to enable users to work with DB2 databases and applications without learning the intricacies of DB2 programming or administration. Taking advantage of the simplicity of Microsoft Access graphical interface and flexible design tools, users can exploit the full power of the DB2 database from their desktop PC.

ei-O makes it easy to import DB2 database structures and data into Access for analysis and reporting; to meet rapidly changing information needs, ei-O and Access simplify the task of re-engineering DB2 databases; and ei-O is ideal for getting data into and out of DB2 powered internet sites.

ei-O for DB2 (Intel) Version 1.3 supports Versions 5, 6 and 7 of DB2 on NT or Linux, and includes MS-Access 97 and 2000 versions. It is available now by electronic distribution for $1,995.00 (U.S.) at www.bunkerhill.com. Complete documentation and an informative presentation also are available online.

"The number of visitors to our web-site has increased to more than 3,000 per month from over 40 countries since IBM began distributing Scriptoria for DB2 in May of 1999," said Tornambe. "There is a great deal of interest in tools that can help mine the richness of the DB2 database."

ei-O for DB2/UNIX will be available after August 1, 2000; ei-O for DB2/390 is planned for release before the end of the year.

IBM's DB2 is one of the most widely used databases on the market. It works across the Microsoft, Linux, UNIX, OS400 and mainframe database platforms.

Bunker Hill Corporation, based in San Francisco, is a leading supplier of software tools for the IBM DB2 market.
