"Immersion's inclusion in the Russell Indices is another exciting indicator of the momentum that our TouchSense technology has enjoyed over recent quarters," said Vic Viegas, CFO of Immersion Corporation. "In addition to bringing the sense of touch to the consumer space, Immersion has recently made inroads into other markets including Automotive, Medical, and 3D Computing."

Immersion's TouchSense technology allows computer users to experience realistic touch sensations when interacting with their software. TouchSense is licensed by hardware manufacturers and is included in a wide range of products, including joysticks for gaming, computer mice for mainstream computing, medical simulation hardware for high-end training systems, and dashboard controls for automobiles. When using a TouchSense enabled peripheral device, a computer user can feel simulated sensations such as the blast of a weapon in a video game, the contours of a product on a web page, and the pliancy of tissue in a surgical simulator.

Immersion Corporation deploys its TouchSense technology by working with strategic partners across a variety of markets. TouchSense technology has been licensed by leading computer peripheral manufacturers such as Logitech, Microsoft, and Kensington. Its TouchSense technology is also used in medical simulators for companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Lockheed Martin and HT Medical. And as announced last quarter, BMW has licensed Immersion's TouchSense technology for use in BMW's automobiles.
