Commerce One, Inc. (Nasdaq:CMRC) and Andersen Consulting today announced that they had reached an agreement in principle to significantly expand the scope of their global strategic alliance, announced in February.

The expanded relationship is expected to enable Andersen Consulting, Commerce One and their worldwide clients to capitalize on the opportunities and efficiencies of business-to-business (B2B) electronic commerce. Definitive agreements with respect to the alliance are expected to be executed during the third quarter of 2000.

The components of the alliance are anticipated to include:

preferred partner for the design and development of integrated

supply chain solutions.

"We are excited to significantly expand our relationship with Commerce One to rapidly take advantage of the marketplace momentum and help our clients realize the benefits of business-to-business e-commerce," said Matt Mosetick, partner, Andersen Consulting. "Together, we will be focused on aggressively developing a variety of key industry vertical markets."

Vertical industry offerings based on the Commerce One MarketSite(TM) Portal Solution for Net Market Makers will be available in Andersen Consulting's dot.com solution centres. These turnkey solutions will add to Andersen Consulting's extensive capabilities for enabling the rapid development and operation of vertical marketplaces without disruption to business.
