CAMARILLO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 24, 2000

YARC Systems Corporation (OTC:YARC) today celebrated the release of the YARC Xtreme, its first postscript RIP for the USB Macintosh, by placing copies of the drivers for the Epson Stylus Pro 7000 on its Internet Web site, for free download.

YARC is the first company to embrace the open distribution of postscript RIP software. While its competitors mostly license their postscript interpreter software from Adobe Systems Inc., (Nasdaq:ADBE), YARC has developed its own proprietary software code, compliant with Adobe's postscript specification, but unfettered by licensing restrictions.

A free, user-based, Technical Support Forum has been set up at URL http://pub18.ezboard.com/byarc

"YARC's Postscript driver will complement the Quickdraw driver that is shipped with the printer," explained Dr. Trevor Marshall, YARC's chief executive officer. "We are making available copies of our YARC Xtreme software, free of charge, so that Mac users who prefer to use Postscript can efficiently drive this superb new Epson printer."

The Xtreme is YARC's first true software RIP, replacing the hardware printer accelerator card used in YARC's EZ product range with the Macintosh's USB bus firmware.

The postscript RIP software posted on the Internet contains the same full feature set as all YARC's hardware-accelerated Mac RIPs, including full color management and total control of the Stylus Pro 7000's advanced capabilities. A Power Macintosh from Apple Computer Inc. (Nasdaq:AAPL), operating at 400MHz, with a G3 or G4 CPU, and at least 128 Mbytes of RAM, is sufficient to run the USB printer at maximum speed.

The Xtreme uses YARC's unique six-color rasterizing subsystem. Black can be optionally printed as pure K black, or as a combination of the CMYKcm ICC channels. YARC's proprietary FMES screening technology allows simultaneous handling of the output jets imaging both the Light Cyan and Cyan pigments. Similarly Light Magenta is diffused simultaneously with Magenta.

A retail package containing printed manual and a CD-ROM will be available through distribution at a suggested resale price of $249. This package includes a voucher for technical support. Copies of the Xtreme software which have been downloaded from the Internet do not come with free technical support. Vouchers for technical support may be purchased from YARC's online store.

Disclaimers:

YARC makes no warranties that the Xtreme software currently available for download from its Web site will continue to be made available free of charge. YARC reserves all proprietary rights and copyrights in the Xtreme software, and retains the sole discretion to determine how best to protect those rights.

About YARC (http://www.yarc.com/)

YARC has developed proprietary LINUX software that integrates printing technologies with the Internet. YARC's servers can receive images over the Internet and can be configured and upgraded from any standard Internet browser. YARC's proprietary implementation of Adobe Systems' Postscript Printer Description Language (PDL) is used to process computer images so they can be transferred to a printing engine, across the Internet, without any loss of detail or color quality.

YARC's Internet technology enables a direct link between the graphic artist and the printed output. This workflow ensures optimal color quality and greater productivity than typical competitive Internet workflows, where a broker is used to interface between the graphic artist and the printing press operators.
