Cox to Deploy IntoMedia(TM) Content Delivery Platform to Power

PlayNow.com(TM) Service

Into Networks, the pioneer and leader in delivering streaming software over broadband networks, and Cox Communications, Inc. (NYSE:COX), the fifth largest cable company in the U.S., have forged a partnership to offer streaming software to Cox Communications' high-speed Internet access customers. Through this partnership, Into Networks will extend its content delivery platform and server network, providing Cox Communications' residential customers with instant access to hundreds of entertainment, lifestyle and business software titles with the click of a mouse. Initial deployments are planned for this summer in Omaha, Wichita, Fairfax County (VA) and Oklahoma City.

Into Networks' content delivery platform enables leading software publishers and broadband operators to provide high-speed Internet access customers with click-and-play access to CD-ROM software and other rich media without requiring time-consuming downloads or the hassles of installation. This robust platform provides high security for content publishers, and the flexibility to operate in a wide range of broadband speeds. Into Networks achieves this performance by deploying a distributed network of servers, located in the "last mile" of broadband networks. The platform and server network introduce a dynamic new business model for software, allowing users to try titles for free, rent single titles for a few days or subscribe to channels of content on a monthly basis.

The result for residential and business users is a simple, efficient and innovative pricing model for using software that has never been possible before. By eliminating purchases and installations, access to software is as simple as visiting a Web site. This new distribution model makes a whole universe of entertainment, education and business software available on-demand via subscriptions or one-time rental. Consumers and small businesses win by getting greater choice and more value from their broadband connections; broadband service providers win by offering new revenue-generating, value-added services and publishers win with a new distribution option.

"We chose Into Networks after a thorough evaluation of its technology, management team, content offering and results from deployments in other markets," said David Woodrow, Executive Vice President of Business Development for Cox Communications. "We're believers in the software-on-demand category, and Into's ability to offer a turnkey package that makes this possible for our customers."

"Into Networks has created a new model for software distribution that leverages the broadband infrastructure," said Vincent Grosso, chief executive officer of Into Networks. "Broadband is ripe for new applications that service providers can offer their customers. Our results show that streaming software is one of the first applications that is ready for wide-scale deployment today." Grosso added, "Cox can now offer its customers a rich new broadband experience while driving customer acquisition, building brand awareness and loyalty."

Cox high-speed Internet service, marketed in partnership with Excite@Home and Road Runner, will allow customers to access a co-branded version of Into's PlayNow(TM) service, offering leading entertainment, learning and productivity software titles from publishers such as Disney, Lotus, Edmark and Ripcord Games. To provide the service, Into Networks will deploy the IntoMedia(TM) content delivery platform and server network via Cox's broadband network. The IntoMedia platform is designed to deliver rich media software in small, encoded bursts, minimizing network traffic and bandwidth usage, while providing security to publishers. To access titles from PlayNow, consumers will use the IntoPlayer(TM) desktop client software that allows click-and-play access to software over the Internet.
