CLEVELAND--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 25, 2000
Enterprise customers and service provider's alike benefit from
reliability and scalability of robust
Java application hosting platform
Secant Technologies, Inc. today announced general availability of its Extreme Internet Server 3.5, the first Web application server designed to meet the demanding Java(TM) Servlet and JavaServer(TM) Pages hosting requirements of both enterprise developers and Internet and Application Service Providers. The newest addition to the Secant Extreme(TM) family of application infrastructure solutions, Extreme Internet Server is the industry's most affordable, stable, reliable, and scalable platform for Java(TM) Servlets and JavaServer(TM) Pages (JSP) applications.
"We house over 450 servers that run our customers' Web sites, and have always used BSD/OS because of its performance and reliability," said Dayne Jordan, president of ISP-Expressway.net. "Our customers are now asking us to support server-side Java for their Web applications, and Extreme Internet Server running on BSD/OS allows us to offer the services they want with a reliable product that we can easily install, configure, and manage."
Designed to deliver fast response times in the most demanding enterprise and service provider environments, Extreme Internet Server incorporates the same cross-platform clustering and load balancing technology found in the award-winning Secant Extreme Enterprise Server(TM). Secant's unique distributed service architecture and management tools enable administrators to easily deploy Servlet and JSP applications across a multi-platform cluster of servers.
"As competition in the Web hosting market continues to intensify, hosting providers need to differentiate themselves with innovative, high-value service offerings, including server-side Java hosting," explains Randy Johnson, product manager at Secant. "This makes a strong business case because Extreme Internet Server eliminates the need to hire a staff of Java programmers just to offer Servlet and JSP hosting."
Platform, Pricing, Availability
Extreme Internet Server version 3.5 is available immediately on the most popular Internet server platforms, including Linux, BSDi, Windows NT and 2000, and the Solaris(TM) operating environment. Pricing starts at $895 per server at deployment and the complete environment is available for developer use at no charge.
