Business/High Tech Editors

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 31, 2000

LizardTech, Inc., the Seattle-based leader in imaging technologies and telecommunications infrastructure software, today announced that Rob Meyer, former European product marketing manager for all of Adobe's vector products (Adobe Illustrator(R), Streamline(TM) and Dimensions(R)), has joined the company as the new vice president for EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa); his position starts immediately.

As vice president, Meyer will be responsible for the overall sales and marketing activities of LizardTech's MrSID(R) and DjVu(R) product lines in the EMEA market.

An executive with Adobe for eight years, Meyer held a number of positions in European marketing and product development. Long considered the "fiery ambassador of the PDF workflow" by his customers and the press, Meyer was a frequent speaker at trade events regarding the publishing marketplace. Also while at Adobe, Meyer held positions in Edinburgh, Scotland, and led solutions sales for the BENELUX market.

"We are very fortunate to have Meyer heading up our European operations," said John Grizz Deal, LizardTech's president and CEO. "He is extremely well-respected within the industry and by the European community for his business and product expertise."

"This is an enormous opportunity to play a significant role as LizardTech makes an immense impact on the industry," said Meyer. "LizardTech's next-generation technologies, including DjVu and MrSID, are not only the best on the market today, but will play significant roles as companies change the way they think about capturing printed materials and images for the Web and beyond."

LizardTech opened its European office in the Netherlands in August 1999 to fulfill increasing market demand for its award-winning MrSID software products and to establish new distribution channels. MrSID is a powerful image encoder, viewer and file format that offers true portability of massive images locally and over standard network, Internet and wireless protocols. DjVu, developed by AT&T Labs and acquired by LizardTech in March of this year, allows companies to scan, store and download documents 20 times faster than JPEG or GIF and at compression ratios as high as 1,000:1.
