PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 1, 2000
Hewlett-Packard Company today announced that it has extended affordable and reliable data protection to small and midsized businesses using Windows(R) 2000 or Linux operating systems, as well as to businesses using IDE-based PC servers and workstations.
HP has added Windows 2000 and Linux operating-system support to its popular HP SureStore T20 and T20X Travan tape products for server and workstation backup. In addition, HP Colorado Travan desktop tape backup solutions now ship with backup software that is compatible with Windows 2000 Professional desktop environments. The company also introduced the HP SureStore T20XA, an addition to its small-business and workgroup Travan tape backup products. The T20XA provides a complete backup and disaster-recovery solution for low-cost IDE-based PC servers and workstations.
Server and Workstation Backup -- HP SureStore T20 and T20X Products
Small businesses running Linux, Windows 2000 or NetWare 5.x servers can now take advantage of HP's highly reliable SCSI-based SureStore T20 and T20X products for complete full-system backup and disaster recovery. These award-winning products continue to support Windows NT(R) 4.0 and NetWare 4.x servers. In addition, all T20/T20X products include HP Colorado Backup II (CBII) desktop backup software for complete backup and disaster recovery of Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 Professional workstations. HP's T20 product line is a perfect data-protection solution for small businesses without dedicated IT staffs.
"Most organizations regard information as their most valuable business asset," said Larry Smith, marketing section manager for HP's Travan tape-drive business. "Unfortunately, many small businesses come to realize that fact only after they lose their data. By expanding our connectivity to include Windows 2000 and Linux support in our entry-level server backup products, we can now offer small businesses the broadest, most cost-effective backup and disaster-recovery solution available."
Desktop Backup -- HP Colorado 8GB, 14GB and 20GB Products
Windows 2000 users now have a reliable full-system backup and disaster-recovery solution with HP's Colorado line of award-winning IDE-based desktop tape backup products -- ranging in capacity from 8GB to 20GB. The tape drives ship with HP CBII desktop backup software for complete backup and disaster recovery of Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 Professional workstations. HP Colorado tape drives give small businesses quick and easy backup and disaster-recovery solutions scaled to their needs.
New HP SureStore T20XA
The HP SureStore T20XA IDE-based tape drive is the latest addition to HP's T20 data-protection product line for smaller servers and workstations. The T20XA provides an easy, affordable backup solution for low-cost IDE-based PC servers and workstations. It includes backup and disaster-recovery software for Windows NT and Windows 2000 servers.
The software also supports full backup capabilities for Linux servers. Like the rest of HP's T20 product line, the T20XA also includes HP CBII desktop backup and disaster-recovery software for Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 Professional workstations.
U.S. Pricing and Availability

HP's Colorado 8GB, 14GB and 20GB desktop products with in-box support for Windows 2000 Professional are available now. An upgrade to Windows 2000 Professional support is available for $29.95.
