SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 1, 2000
Graphisoft, developer of the Virtual Building(TM) concept of 3D architectural design, announced the availability of its Log Home Solution for ArchiCAD which is designed to facilitate integrated CAD/CAM processes for the log home building industry.
Using the power of the virtual building model and operating with ArchiCAD, the Log Home Solution features optimized modeling and cost estimation reporting functionality developed specifically for large-scale mill craft producers. It speeds design with custom modeled corner details for log end finishes and lets designers specify log dimensions to attain wall heights that reflect the actual dimensions of the milled logs. Automated reporting produces accurate cut lists that can be linked directly to CAM milling operations.
As Burton Morton, an Idaho-based RA who specializes in log homes observes, "One of the biggest challenges for production builders is generating accurate cut lists - something that can take up to two weeks when it's done manually - combined with the added constraint of needing to be accurate within 1/16 of an inch. Graphisoft's Log Home Solution solves those issues right up front by automatically generating an accurate cut list that can be sent directly to the
mill. For large-scale log home production, there simply isn't another CAD product that compares."
Graphisoft US President Tamas Hajas states, "This solution is a case in point for the viability of Graphisoft's virtual building model as a data flow application for the construction industry and the pre fabricated building component market in particular."
Graphisoft's ArchiCAD Log Home Solution starts at $25,000 for use with up to ten ArchiCAD sites with an additional $1,500 for sites thereafter and can be integrated for use with existing CAD/CAM systems and enhanced with custom object libraries.
Graphisoft is a leading provider of computer-aided design (CAD) software solutions for the architectural profession and the building industry.
