Radiant Viewed as Strategic Partner by Tosco Management
Radiant Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: RADS) announced today that Tosco Marketing Company, the retail marketing arm of Tosco Corporation (NYSE: TOS), will implement Radiant Systems' technology throughout its company-operated stores in the United States. Building on a successful systems and consulting relationship, this new agreement commits the two companies to implement Radiant's Lighthouse Point of Sale in all of Tosco's corporate-owned sites by 2003. In addition, Radiant Systems will market its technology offerings into Tosco's 3,000-strong franchisee and jobber community.
Lighthouse POS is a cross-industry, 32-bit application that operates in both the Windows NT and Windows CE environments. With more than 15,000 terminals deployed in convenience stores, cinemas, and quick service restaurants in the United States and overseas, Radiant believes that Lighthouse POS is one of the most stable and reliable systems for meeting the demands of extremely high-volume customer service environments.
Tosco's commitment to Lighthouse POS comes in the context of its company-wide reengineering initiative called the Retail Enterprise Program. "Radiant Systems is more than a technology vendor to Tosco," said Rich Reinken, Chief Information Officer for Tosco Corp. "They represent one of many strategic alliances that are critical to the success of our Retail Enterprise Project."
A Radiant Systems dedicated consulting team has worked closely with Tosco on the Retail Enterprise Program. "We have worked together to determine best practices, understand the change management requirements, and make the changes lasting," said Jon Bolen, Managing Director of the Petroleum and Convenience Store Industry Group at Radiant Systems.
