SARASOTA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 13, 2000
SPEEDCOM Wireless International Corporation, the leader in metropolitan area broadband wireless connectivity solutions, today announced that its Sarasota, Florida design and manufacturing facility passed its third consecutive 6-month compliance audit for continuing quality assurance under the ISO 9001 standard. The company first gained certification in November 1998. ISO 9001 certification is the most comprehensive level in the ISO 9000 certification process and is awarded to companies that meet strict quality system standards set forth by the International Organization for Standardization.
This organization, headquartered in Geneva Switzerland, defines the quality system parameters for all levels of ISO 9000 standardization. The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) represents the United States on the ISO Committee.
ISO 9001 certification indicates that the company has implemented a quality assurance system that is recognized in the global marketplace. More than 150 countries recognize the ISO standards as a requirement for quality assurance and many will only conduct business with companies that have achieved certification. To comply with ISO 9001 standards, all aspects of the company's business practices are documented, implemented, and understood by all affected employees. Particular emphasis is placed on the manufacturing, installation, and servicing functions within the organization. During every step in the certification process, the company's quality system is reviewed and refined to enhance the company's ability to serve customers in an accurate and consistent manner.
"Passing the ISO 9001 compliance audit affirms our dedication to our quality system. All company employees work together to continuously improve upon our quality system. We have provided a basis to ensure that the company can manage continued growth phases," said Mike McKinney, President and CEO, SPEEDCOM Wireless International.
