HILLSBORO, Ore. and LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 19, 2000

RadiSys Corp. (NASDAQ: RSYS), a leading global designer and manufacturer of building blocks enabling next-generation Internet and communications systems, and Trillium Digital Systems, Inc., the leading provider of communications software solutions, will participate in a live on-line net seminar to discuss implementing high-density, high-availability SS7 solutions for next-generation telecom applications.

The event, scheduled for Thursday, June 22, will be offered at two different times -- once at 6:00 a.m. PDT (2 p.m. GMT) for international attendees, and again at 10:00 a.m. PST (1 p.m. Eastern) for a domestic audience.

Open to the entire industry, the RadiSys/Trillium on-line seminar, titled "Implementing SS7: Achieving High Density and High Availability," will focus on the challenges of implementing and integrating SS7 solutions in telecom applications. SS7 allows the deployment of enhanced services -- 800-number calling, caller ID, 911/E911, PCS (personal communications services) roaming, call forwarding, and local number portability -- through the Advanced Intelligent Network (AIN). Additionally, SS7 is a key technology that will enable the convergence of the public switched telephone network (PSTN) and Internet Protocol (IP) -based networks, allowing the seamless flow of both voice and data traffic across network boundaries.

"As the usage of SS7 grows, so does the density of links in the SS7 network. Implementing higher density SS7 solutions requires architecture and design level attention, and the demanding reliability requirement for SS7 adds another dimension to this already complex implementation," said Arif Kareem, Vice President and General Manager, RadiSys. "This on-line seminar will provide an overview of these challenges and explore implementation issues and alternatives for both high-density and high-availability SS7 solutions."

"In order to enable and guarantee the wide deployment of advanced telecommunications services, builders of carrier-grade communications network equipment must ensure that SS7 technologies are implemented in ways that effectively address the high-density and high-availability requirements of mission-critical networks," said Frank Morese, Vice President, Marketing, Trillium Digital Systems. "Trillium and RadiSys have extensive experience implementing SS7 technologies into next-generation network equipment, and our joint on-line net seminar is one way for us to contribute to the industry's progress towards true network convergence."

Featured presenters will be Bob Pebly, Principal Engineer, RadiSys and Ashwani Garg, Engineering Project Manager, Trillium Digital Systems. Both speakers bring a breadth of knowledge and expertise from the SS7 arena.
