LA Weekly Music Awards, presented by SpinRecords.com, will be held June 29 at the Henry Fonda Theatre as the finale of LA Music 2000 (June 23-29) -- a weeklong celebration highlighting the music scene in Los Angeles.

Following LA Weekly's tradition of supporting local music, the LA Weekly Music Awards 2000 will honor over 100 LA area bands and musicians in 20 different categories. The categories are designed to pay tribute to the diverse genres, styles and talents that define the local music scene. Lifetime Achievement Awards will be presented to Hadda Brooks, Dick Dale, Arthur Lee and Big Jay McNeely.

Atomic Pop recording artist Ice T will host the evening as well as perform. Other confirmed performers include Dick Dale, Ray Manzarek with Michael McClure, Styles of Beyond, Dave Alvin & Friends, Streetwalkin' Cheetahs w/ Wayne Kramer, Akashic Ensemble (featuring Nels Cline, Alex Cline and Don Preston), Buck and DJ Me DJ You.

Confirmed presenters include Mike Watt, Jules Asner (E! Entertainment TV), Mo'nique & Countess Vaughn (of UPN's "The Parkers"), Jerry Stahl, Pauly Shore, Stan Ridgway, Medusa, Alex Desert (of Hepcat), Kim Shattuck (of The Muffs), Abby Travis, Johnette Napolitano (of Concrete Blonde), Steve Wynn (of Dream Syndicate), and many more.

Nominees include Beachwood Sparks (Best New Artist), L7 (Best Rock Band), The Eels (Best Pop/Rock Band), Dr. Dre (Best Rap/Hip-Hop Artist) and Alex Cline (Best Jazz Artist).

The LA Weekly Music Awards 2000 will be webcast live on SpinRecords.com the night of the show.
