Liebhaber Named Board Chairman of Advanced Radio Telecom

Advanced Radio Telecom Corp. (ART) (Nasdaq:ARTT) today announced that Richard T. Liebhaber has been named non-executive chairman of its board of directors.
Liebhaber, 64, joined ART's board in December 1999.
"I am honored to be named ART's chairman," Liebhaber said. "The Company has done an excellent job in expanding its nationwide spectrum assets and initially deploying its networks. I look forward to taking an active leadership role at a time when ART is stepping up its sales and deployment activities."
ART, which launched its Eastern region metropolitan hub in Washington, D.C. earlier this month, is poised to launch a total of 10 new markets by year-end.
Liebhaber is a consulting managing director at Veronis, Suhler and Assoc., the New York Media Merchant Banking company. He also is on the board of directors of several communications companies, including AVICI Systems, Inc., Alcatel USA, Inc., KPNQwest and Rare Medium Group. He is also a member of the executive committee of the Abilene Internet 2 Project at the University Corporation for Advanced Internet Development (UCAID), a consortium of 155 member universities and corporate sponsors.
Liebhaber was executive vice president of MCI Communications, Corp., a member of its management committee from December 1985 to his retirement in 1995, and was a member of its board of directors. Prior to MCI, Liebhaber had a distinguished career with IBM that included the development and launch of numerous innovative joint ventures.
