BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 23, 2000
Onyx Software Corp. (Nasdaq:ONXS), a leading provider of enterprise-wide, customer-centric e-business applications, today announced the re-election of the company's director of outsourced applications, Ric Merrifield, to the ASP Industry Consortium board of directors.
Merrifield, a four-year veteran of Onyx Software, was one of the founding board members of the Consortium and is chairman of the organization's education committee.
"Onyx was one of the earlier applications vendors to jump on the emerging ASP opportunity by striking relationships with key ASP enablers such as FutureLink and Breakaway Solutions. Ric's appointment to the ASP Industry Consortium is further evidence of its commitment to participating in and advancing this market," said Clare Gillan, group vice president, Applications Research, IDC Research.
The ASP Industry Consortium is an international advocacy group of over 500 companies, formed to promote the industry by sponsoring research, promoting best practices, and articulating the measurable benefits of the evolving ASP delivery model.
"Onyx was one of the earliest proponents of ASP and we remain one of its most vocal and energetic promoters," said Brent Frei, Onyx Software president & CEO. "Our products are ideally suited to hosting and we already have a strong base of ASP partners. We believe we can make a positive contribution to helping shape the market in ways that creates the greatest value for the end-user. Ric's re-election to the ASP Industry Consortium board of directors is an important means of contributing to the development of the ASP market."
"As more companies of all sizes realize the importance of getting their customer-facing systems online, and combine the best of their online and offline business processes, a hosted model makes sense for many of them," said Ric Merrifield, director of Onyx ASPiN. "But there is still buyer confusion about this industry as it continues to grow and diversify. The global team we have assembled in the committee is working hard to keep pace with the growth of this industry to arm customers with the information they need to decide whether a hosted solution is the right choice for their needs. I am thrilled to continue to play a role in shaping and defining best practices around next-generation business application deployment and service delivery."
Launched with 25 founding members in May 1999, the Massachusetts-based ASP Industry Consortium has grown in one year to include more than 500 of the world's leading technology companies, including Onyx Software as a founding member.
"I am extremely honored to continue to work with Ric Merrifield on our board of directors," said Traver Gruen-Kennedy, chairman of the ASP Industry Consortium. "This board consists of a group of some of the top names in the ASP field, representative of the international nature of the Consortium. I know their talent and dedication will result in much success for the Consortium this year."
