PURCHASE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 26, 2000
New Customer Win Broadens ASP's role in the `Paperless Revolution'
Interliant, Inc. (NASDAQ:INIT), a leading global application service provider (ASP), today announced that Vestcom International, Inc., (NASDAQ:VESC) a provider of business communications solutions and marketing support services, has selected Interliant to host and provide IT infrastructure for Vestcom's Internet-enabled document delivery solutions.
Vestcom's solutions include electronic bill presentment and payment (EBPP) and online document delivery of customer communications such as brokerage account statements and trade confirmations. By combining multiple ASP services - Web hosting and IT infrastructure - in its offerings to a single customer, Interliant successfully demonstrates its ability to utilize the end-to-end capabilities of the ASP model to enable customer endeavors.
Interliant will provide hardware and IT management services out of its Vienna, Virginia, data center to support Vestcom's solutions, which enable the company to create, manage and distribute mission-critical documents online. Vestcom's Internet Solutions include recently announced applications for Embridge Commercial Services (ECS), a North American energy transportation, distribution and service provider, and The Alger Fund, an investment management firm. Vestcom's clients are primarily financial services organizations, telecommunications companies, utilities, retail outlets, insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies.
"Partnering with Interliant supports Vestcom's initiative to deliver business-critical communications to our clients and their customers via the Internet," said Brendan Keating, president and chief executive officer of Vestcom International. "As our ASP, Interliant enables Vestcom to offer these solutions in an online environment that is reliable, secure and scalable."
"This is a classic example of the far-reaching benefits of the ASP option," said Herb Hribar, president and chief executive officer of Interliant, "and illustrates how ASPs like Interliant are driving the `e-business revolution.' While Vestcom is helping its clients focus on their core services by removing the burden of document and information management, Interliant's bandwidth and client data storage capabilities let us take on Vestcom's hosting and IT infrastructure responsibilities. As a full-service ASP, we are able to let our clients - and their customers - do what they do best.
"Making the transition from paper to online document management -- a big step for many businesses - is almost inevitable as Internet use and electronic commerce continue to increase," Hribar continued. "We are very excited about playing a leading part in making this happen."
