Generation Services; McKinsey & Company
Will Serve as Strategic Advisor
Extent Technologies officially launched today at Billing 2000 where it showcased its true real-time Operations Support System (OSS) and billing software called Omnispan. The Omnispan software, set for release this fall, is designed for Internet Protocol service providers. Extent also announced a global agreement with consulting firm McKinsey & Company who will become a strategic advisor to support the company's global development.
"We're thrilled to launch Extent at Billing 2000 and to announce our agreement with McKinsey & Company," said Jonathan Garini, CEO of the Reston, Virginia-based company. "With our breakthrough 100% web-based OSS and billing software, IP service providers now have the technology they need to quickly and easily implement and support next generation service offerings and business models. The system's future friendly design means that service providers can rapidly respond to changing conditions, significantly bolstering their competitive advantage."
"Extent has the technology to really accelerate the growth of the service provider tidal wave," said Garini. "Extent's patent pending true real-time operations capability solves some of the main problems of billing systems today. Omnispan knows each user's real-time status at any moment. It makes this data available throughout the system, for precise account status and usage data - even when there are millions of customers accessing a variety of services. This data also allows the service provider to bundle and cross-sell other services online, which allows them to differentiate their product offerings and increase their revenue generating capabilities."
With Omnispan, Extent offers the IP service provider community a powerful all-in-one solution that creates an infrastructure that supports their growth. By having a completely integrated registration, provisioning, rating, billing and customer care solution, service providers will find that they can better manage their businesses, prevent revenue loss and concentrate on giving their subscribers the service and services that inspires growth.
The combination of 100% web-based and true real-time technology translates into superior-levels of customer care and self-care. Subscribers will be able to view their exact balance and access usage information - even during a session. The real-time capability also allows service providers to fire business rules in real-time such as to enforce prepaid cards and credit card limits. Garini noted that this is a critical distinction from other billing systems, which are typically able to provide billing information only after a session has already been concluded or at predetermined times.
"Any new business model service providers want to pursue, such as the Virtual service provider, and even business models we don't know of yet, can be supported by our software," said Garini.
Extent's global agreement with the consulting firm McKinsey & Company will provide Extent access to McKinsey's comprehensive knowledge in the telecommunications industry and access to first class carriers. "Extent is proud to work with the most respected consulting firm in world," said Garini.
