Interwoven XML-Based Content Management Architecture Gives
eBusiness Customers Flexibility and Scalability Across
the Extended Enterprise
Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq:IWOV), the leading provider of enterprise-class content management software, today announced that since November 1999, 90% of its customers have chosen TeamSite Templating, its industry-leading XML (eXtensible Markup Language) publishing solution. TeamSite Templating empowers everyone in the organization, regardless of technical ability, to contribute structured data for output to any eBusiness application, Web site, business partner or wireless/handheld device.
"Web savvy companies are looking to integrate their supply chain, participate in new B2B exchanges and re-purpose content for next generation Web appliances," said John Van Siclen, vice president of corporate development for Interwoven. "Interwoven's XML-driven, enterprise-class content management architecture, including powerful XML publishing, is enabling eBusiness leaders to rapidly adopt, leverage and extend their use of XML to drive new eBusiness initiatives."
In addition to TeamSite Templating, XML plays a major role in the entire Interwoven content management architecture. TeamSite software's powerful workflow engine incorporates XML in order to create configurable workflows. These can be tailored to a specific company or a specific Web initiative which may have very specialized approval needs. XML provides the TeamSite workflow engine the flexibility to adapt itself to an organization's existing business rules and processes.
Interwoven OpenDeploy extends content replication capabilities to business partners, enabling organizations to automate the distribution of content elements to any number of external parties as XML. OpenDeploy software's capabilities to extract content from corporate databases, bundle as XML, and send to business partners enables companies to easily re-purpose content across the extended enterprise.
XML also helps Interwoven customers to capture metadata in TeamSite which allows them to re-purpose that content across multiple Web properties. "The days of having a single corporate Web site are far behind us," said Jeffrey Engelmann, vice president for product marketing and management. "Our customers now have tens, sometimes hundreds of sites which need to share and re-use content. The XML metatagging capabilities in TeamSite not only make it possible, but make it very easy for the knowledge workers to do themselves."
"We are Nortel Networks have been using TeamSite since 1997 and its open, scalable architecture has already allowed us to integrate the latest Web technologies," said Tim Chandler, director of Web strategy at Nortel Networks. "As we move into our next-generation architecture which includes XML, TeamSite provides us an evolutionary path which does not require us to re-architect our existing Web applications."
"Our customers are transforming how they do business online with our XML-based solutions. We see ourselves as leading the charge to get people to adopt XML, contribute XML, share content via XML, participate in exchanges via XML and make content available anywhere, in any format, on any device through XML," said Martin Brauns, president and CEO of Interwoven. "That is the power of the XML revolution."
