CVS Corporation May Same Store Sales Increase 11.9%

CVS Corporation (NYSE: CVS) today announced that May same store sales increased 11.9%, while pharmacy same store sales rose 18.5%.
Total sales for the four-week period ended May 27, 2000 increased 13.0% to $1.536 billion, compared to $1.359 billion in the prior year period. Total pharmacy sales represented 62% of total company sales in May.
Year-to-date, same store sales for the twenty-one week period ended May 27, 2000 increased 10.0% over the prior year period, while pharmacy same store sales increased 16.4%. Total sales for the twenty-one week period increased 12.2% to $7.782 billion, compared to $6.936 billion in 1999.
As of May 27, 2000, CVS operated 4,082 retail and specialty pharmacy stores in 29 states and the District of Columbia.
