CLEARWATER, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 6, 2000

Enables Leading eBusiness User Management Software Suite To Serve As Web-Based, Delegated Administration Tool for Popular Directory Service

OpenNetwork Technologies(R), a leader in eBusiness and directory service software, today announced that its DirectorySmart(TM) eUser management integrated suite of products now supports Novell(R) Directory Services(R) (NDS(R)) eDirectory(TM), a cross-platform directory service that powers and simplifies eBusiness relationships in real-world Internet environments. OpenNetwork has extended the core Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP)-enabled interoperability of these platforms to allow DirectorySmart users to access and manage the user and entitlement information housed within eDirectory.

DirectorySmart is a powerful B2B eUser management integrated suite of products that is simple to install and configure, runs on leading hardware and operating systems and is easily adapted to a customer's environment. DirectorySmart's integrated suite of LDAP-enabled products uniquely delivers all of the core components necessary to support a rapidly growing base of eBusiness users or "eUsers." The system delegates user administration throughout the organization, assigning responsibility and access to users based on their role or relationship. This decentralization reduces IT burden and streamlines information sharing. By integrating with eDirectory, OpenNetwork is tying its eUser management solution directly to Novell's LDAP directory. DirectorySmart functions with eDirectory as a highly customized web-based administrative tool that automates the management and updating of core directory information as it interacts with eUsers and administrators across the organization. In addition, the integration brings functionality such as delegated role-based administration, eUser management and access control to eDirectory.

"Novell Net services software gives companies the power and flexibility to adapt their eBusinesses in a rapidly evolving Net economy," said David Fleck, vice president of developer and partner relations at Novell. "NDS eDirectory, together with OpenNetwork's DirectorySmart eUser management suite, provides customers an excellent solution to simplify the complexity of eBusiness as they move towards the goal of one Net."

"Directories are the engine for eBusiness, and so it is very important that we deliver a high level of interoperability with top directory services," said Kurt Long, CEO of OpenNetwork Technologies. "By working so seamlessly with NDS eDirectory, we make it simple and inexpensive for joint customers to create powerful ties to their internal and external user. Our tight technology tie translates to highly scaleable and customized web-based solutions for our customers in several vertical markets."
