Chip giant taps Avnet's newest operating group to deliver branded

Internet "building blocks" to original equipment manufacturers

Avnet Applied Computing, an operating group of Avnet Inc. (NYSE:AVT) Tuesday announced that it will be part of a select group of distributors that will deliver Intel processor-branded high density Internet server platforms to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs)in North America.

These new servers are designed to act as network "building blocks" to affordably meet the specific performance needs of service providers, data centers and other emerging Internet businesses.

Avnet Applied Computing's configuration labs are responsible for combining a wide selection of third-party hardware with major Internet operating systems like Linux and Microsoft Windows NT(R) to meet the application-specific demands of each customer. Each unit is then thoroughly tested and validated by Avnet Applied Computing to guarantee optimal performance before shipping.
