NEWARK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 10, 2000

The Prudential Insurance Company of America announced today that consumers who log onto the company's Internet Home Page can now get free, instant price quotes for variable life insurance products. Prudential is the first company offering this service.

Visitors to www.prudential.com can go to the Life Insurance Quick Quote page to obtain a variable insurance quote. They then will be given the option of contacting a Prudential sales professional by filling out an online `request for an appointment' form.

"As we head into the next century, advances in online technology afford us new opportunities to reach out to our customers. The Internet is quickly becoming a powerful force for consumers and we recognize that effective use of the Internet can add value to the service we offer to the public," said Bruce Arbonies, director, Prudential Individual Financial Services.

He added that the online quote service is just the latest in a number of enhancements Prudential is offering for variable life products on its Home Page. "Visitors also have the ability to view daily unit values, view average annual returns, and download prospectuses for Prudential's variable universal life and variable appreciable life products," said Arbonies.

The prospectus includes more complete information about these variable life insurance products, including charges and expenses. Read the prospectus carefully before you decide to purchase either.

Prudential also offers visitors to www.prudential.com an instant online quote for term insurance. Late last year, consumers in Arizona, Indiana, Minnesota, Ohio and Virginia were given access to instant car insurance price quotes from Prudential Property and Casualty Insurance Company (PRUPAC), a subsidiary of Prudential; and earlier in the year, PRUPAC offered shoppers in California, Illinois, Vermont, Oregon, Nevada, and Wisconsin online quotes with a 24-hour turnaround.

Prudential, with $362 billion in assets managed and administered as of September 30, 1999, is one of the largest life insurance companies in the United States and is among the largest financial institutions in the world. Prudential serves more than 30 million customers worldwide, offering a variety of products and services, including life insurance, property and casualty insurance, mutual funds, annuities, pension and retirement related investments and administration, asset management, securities brokerage, and real estate and relocation. Prudential is headquartered in Newark, New Jersey. Visit the Prudential Web site at http://www.prudential.com.

Prudential's variable life insurance is distributed by Pruco Securities Corporation, a subsidiary of Prudential. Variable universal life is issued by Pruco Life Insurance Company (except in New York where the issuer is Prudential), a subsidiary of Prudential. Like most insurance policies, Prudential policies contain exclusions, limitations and reductions in benefits and loans for keeping them in force. A prudential professional can provide you with complete costs and details.
